Many students at university think that going to school is boring. These young people include not only the average ones and there are also achievers who think that going to college is a waste of time because the jobs they will get in the future will not require them to apply what they need to learn in the campus. For students like this, they need to appreciate what they have now and get insights on what it is really in jobs that they will get and cause them to regret not making the most out of their studies.
If you think that you will not be able to apply what you are required to study, you may be right. There is a big chance that you will enter a career which is not directly related to or even totally unrelated to your college course. But what you need to think first is that you should not waste what you have now. Appreciate student life. What you have now is the opportunity to learn. Especially for young students, the time to learn is now. When you will grow older, your I.Q. and your learning ability will decline. Do not wait for the time to come when you will want to learn but your brain no longer has the same ability because of age.
Appreciate the learning chance now. You are in an environment where you can learn best. If you postpone getting serious with accumulating knowledge, you will find yourself in a situation where doing so is very difficult. As a student, you are in a surrounding where there is the right kind of competition. Also, you are in the best place to be motivated. If you delay your learning to a later time in your life like when you are already working in a job, the competition there will be different. You can find yourself either in a situation where competing by learning is unhealthy or where not any motivation is present at all. The only exception to this is when you are in a legitimate course of educational qualification advancement but not for learning what you should have already done so.
Studying, especially things which you should have already learned at university, will no longer be that well when you reach a more mature age. You can find yourself in the age when you no longer like discussions or debates. These two things are very important in studying. One of the foundations of education is argument. You will not start to learn about things when you do not have the drive to learn what is good or best for that matter and be able to defend. In mature ages, you may no longer have the inquisitiveness and enthusiasm to find out what is correct. Without these, you will not have enough energy to study and learn.
Going to school is the best time to study and learn things. You cannot postpone doing these to a time when you are already working in a job or in a more mature age when you will no longer have the best motivation and environment to be competitive. So that you will learn best, do it now that you are still young, in school and have the vitality and competitiveness of youth. Besides, there is a different kind and level of competition and motivation which you will need to face in a future career. These are the two things which you need to prepare and you can do so by being competitive in your studies.
I am an advocate of life-long learning. Somehow while being so, I have become aware of the people who do not sieze the opportunities to learn. Now, the advocacy has broadened and deepened. On the side, I also help students of all ages in their academic life from the recurring assignment to the all-important personal statement.
